In a heart-wrenching revelation, Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, the sole survivor of the devastating Air India disaster, is unlikely to ever return to Britain due to an overwhelming fear of flying. The 40-year-old Leicester businessman remains deeply traumatized after surviving the horrific crash that claimed the lives of 260 people in June.
Family members shared that Mr. Ramesh is currently receiving counseling in India to cope with the psychological aftermath of the tragedy. His brother-in-law expressed doubts about Mr. Ramesh’s return to his London home or the family residence in Leicester, stating, “I think he will stay over there because he would be too frightened to get on a plane again.”
The catastrophic incident involved a Boeing 787 that lost power and crashed mere moments after taking off from Ahmedabad, bound for Gatwick. Out of the 241 passengers aboard, 52 were British citizens, and an additional 19 individuals on the ground also lost their lives.
Miraculously, Mr. Ramesh managed to escape from his seat (11A) despite suffering cuts to his face and chest injuries. Tragically, his brother Ajay, 35, did not survive the crash.
His wife, Hiral, and their four-year-old son had traveled to India to support him during his recovery, but they have since returned to the UK. Hiral mentioned that Mr. Ramesh is still undergoing treatment as he struggles to heal from the physical and emotional scars of the disaster.
