The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of his long-time friend and fellow clergyman, Reverend Umai Ukpai, describing him as a true general in the army of God.

In a heartfelt message shared on his official Facebook page, Pastor Adeboye said he paid a condolence visit earlier today to the residence of the late Reverend Ukpai, who recently passed away.

He eulogized the late minister as “a man of unshakable faith, quiet strength, and uncommon humility,” adding that Reverend Ukpai’s life was “a living sermon that spoke louder than words — a story of service, love for God’s people, and steadfast devotion to the Kingdom.”

Quoting from the scriptures, Pastor Adeboye wrote:
“He has fought the good fight. He has finished his course. And now, he rests in the everlasting arms of the Almighty, where there is no more pain, no more striving — only peace, joy, and glory.”

He also extended his condolences to the bereaved family, praying that God would comfort Reverend Ukpai’s wife, Pastor Philomena Ukpai, and the entire family during their moment of grief.

“To his beloved wife, Pastor Philomena Ukpai, and the entire Ukpai family, we extend our heartfelt prayers and deepest sympathies. May the Lord Himself wrap you in His unfailing love, comfort your hearts, and strengthen you in this valley of loss,” he said.

Concluding his tribute, Pastor Adeboye said his friend had not died but merely “changed address — moving from the field of battle to the presence of his Commander-in-Chief.”

“He is home. He is at rest. He is in the arms of God Almighty,” he added.
