NAFDAC Uncovers Counterfeit Alcohol Production Site in Lagos, Destroys Goods Worth N30 Million

Officials from the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) have dismantled a shop in Lagos involved in the production and packaging of counterfeit alcoholic beverages.

According to a post on NAFDAC’s X handle on Monday, the agency acted on a complaint and uncovered an illegal operation on Offin Road, Balogun, Lagos Island.

During the raid, assorted bottles of counterfeit alcohol were destroyed on-site, while packaging materials, empty bottles, and repackaged drinks were seized.

The total value of the confiscated and destroyed goods is estimated to exceed N30 million.

NAFDAC confirmed that investigations are ongoing and urged consumers to only purchase alcoholic beverages from authorized and trusted vendors.

The public is also encouraged to report any suspicious products or activities to the nearest NAFDAC office.
