Nigerians Question Presence of Wike’s Son at Aviation, FCT Meeting

By: Sunday Ameh

A social media storm erupted on Friday after a viral post by Isaac Fayose, brother of former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose, questioned the presence of the son of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, at a high-level meeting involving directors from the Ministry of Aviation and the FCT Administration.

In the viral Facebook post, Fayose wrote: “What is Wike’s son doing in a meeting of the directors of the Ministry of Aviation and the FCT?”

The post quickly gained traction, sparking widespread reactions across social media platforms. Many Nigerians likened the situation to what they described as President Bola Tinubu’s “family-style” governance, alleging that Wike might be following a similar pattern by involving family members in official functions.

Critics drew parallels between Wike’s son’s appearance and that of Seyi Tinubu, the president’s son, who has often been seen participating in government-related activities and political engagements.

Several Facebook users expressed frustration over what they called the growing “culture of inherited political influence” in Nigeria’s governance system.

One user, Dickson Eshiet Reloaded, commented: “Operation promote your son and I promote mine. They are learning fast from their leader, Jagaban.”

Another, Sunday Peter Osunleti, wrote: “He’s learning the job, that’s how Seyi Tinubu started.”

Others argued that the development undermines professionalism and blurs the line between public duty and private interest.

As of press time, the FCT Ministry has not issued any official statement regarding the presence of Wike’s son at the meeting.
