Tension filled the air on Staying in Yenagoa, Bayelsa, as gunshots rang out during a large rally organized by NEW Associates, a group supporting Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
The event was coordinated by George Turnah, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
The rally was underway when the gunshots interrupted the proceedings, causing concern among attendees.
However, calm returned soon after, and the situation was brought under control.
In an interview with journalists, Comrade Ebilade Ekerefe, the Secretary of NEW Associates in Bayelsa, confirmed that the rally would proceed despite the disturbance.
Supporters of the group later regrouped and continued their participation in the rally.
