The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says it has killed more than 25 terrorists in a coordinated night air operation carried out in Bula, Yobe State, and the Banki axis of Borno State.
The operation, according to a statement issued on Saturday in Abuja by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, was executed on September 18 following actionable intelligence provided by ground troops.
Ejodame explained that a force package comprising Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) assets and strike aircraft tracked the movement of terrorists and identified multiple groups north of Banki. Real-time intelligence was then relayed to ground forces and base operations to ensure a synchronised offensive.
“The strike aircraft engaged the terrorists in three successive precision strikes on their movement routes and assembly areas, effectively neutralising more than 25 fighters. Post-strike surveillance confirmed ground forces remained in defensive positions, with no further threats observed,” the statement read.
The NAF spokesperson added that the operation underscored the Air Force’s commitment to supporting ground troops, denying terrorists freedom of action, and ensuring the continued security of Nigeria’s North-East region.
