Verydarkman Responds to Police Summons Over Unauthorized Use of Police Uniform

Martins Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman, a Nigerian social media critic, has honored an invitation from the Nigeria Police Force regarding a recent viral video where he wore a police uniform without permission.

In a video shared on Instagram, the police condemned Otse’s use of their official attire, referencing AFRIPOST’s earlier report. Otse, donning a police uniform, identified himself as “CSP Verydarkman” and referred to himself as Nigeria’s “top online police officer.”

As an online activist, Otse has built a reputation for addressing issues on social media, particularly by calling out individuals and businesses he views as oppressive. However, in a statement released on Saturday, October 26, police spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi noted that the police were investigating the source of the uniform and expressed disapproval over its unauthorized use.

Recently, Otse posted another video in which he appeared in a beige suit, announcing that he was en route to the Federal Capital Territory police station to respond to the summons. Standing on the sidewalk, he explained that he was waiting for his lawyer to join him before proceeding to the station.

“I was invited by the police command two days ago on allegations of using police uniforms in a video. I’m on my way now to clear my name,” Otse shared, adding that he chose to comply with the invitation out of respect for the authorities and the nature of the inquiry.
