Suspected Killer of Ondo Businessman Caught in Osun

Police in Ondo State have captured the person believed to be behind the murder of Alhaji Awoyinka Sumaila, a well-known building materials dealer in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area.

Sumaila was shot and killed in his home near Caring Heart Mega School in the Idi Mango area of Ore on March 1, 2025. The crime shocked residents, as the businessman was said to be in his home when gunmen attacked.

After weeks of investigation, police traced the suspect to Osogbo, Osun State, where he was arrested on April 10. The arrest followed a long and careful search that started from Ore and stretched into Osun.

During a search of the suspect’s home, officers found a locally made pistol believed to have been used in the murder, along with some charms.

The police have assured the public that efforts will continue to ensure the state is safe for everyone. They also stated that the suspect is in custody and further investigations are ongoing.
