Vice President Kashim Shettima left Abuja for Senegal on Thursday, April 3, 2025, to attend the country’s 65th Independence Anniversary in Dakar.
Shettima is representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the event, which marks Senegal’s freedom from French colonial rule in 1960.
The annual celebration, taking place on April 4, features parades, ceremonies, and cultural activities across the nation.
The invitation for the Vice President to attend came from Senegalese President Faye Diomaye, reflecting the strong ties between Nigeria and Senegal.
The main events will be hosted at the Place de la Nation in Dakar, with Shettima joining other prominent figures from various countries to celebrate the historic occasion.
This trip follows President Tinubu’s departure for France just a day earlier, where he is set to spend two weeks on a working visit.
