The Delta State Police Command has arrested 27 suspected armed robbers during a raid at Basket Market along the Asaba–Benin Road, Uromi Junction.
The operation, carried out on September 9, 2025, by operatives of the Eagle-Net Special Squad in collaboration with the Nigeria Hunters Forest Security (NHFSS), was led by SP Yunusa Danyaya.
During the raid, one locally fabricated firearm and large quantities of illicit drugs were recovered from the suspects.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the development in a statement, noting that the raid followed credible intelligence.
“On the said date, acting on high-powered intelligence report, operatives conducted a raid operation at Basket Market along Asaba–Benin Road, Uromi Junction. During the operation, a total of twenty-seven (27) suspects, all adults, were apprehended. Upon thorough search, one locally fabricated firearm and large quantities of illicit drugs were recovered from the suspects,” the statement read.
He added that preliminary investigation revealed the suspects were using the hideout to plan and rehearse criminal activities.
“The suspects are in custody, and investigation is ongoing,” Edafe stated.
