Pastor Paul Adefarasin Denies Brandishing Firearm in Viral Video

Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church and founder of The Experience Worship concert, Paul Adefarasin, has dismissed claims that he brandished a firearm in a viral video that surfaced online over the weekend.

In a statement shared via his X (formerly Twitter) account on Saturday, Pastor Adefarasin clarified that the object he was seen holding in the video was not a gun, contrary to speculations and criticisms that followed the clip.

“You may have come across a video circulating on social media, which some have misinterpreted as me brandishing a firearm,” he wrote. “Let me be clear — that was not a firearm, and at no point did I aim any object at anyone.”

While he did not specify what the item in question was, Adefarasin assured the public that there was no cause for alarm. He also said he would address the issue briefly during Sunday’s 9:00 a.m. church service.

“We understand the concern this incident may have caused, and we’ll provide further clarity during our service tomorrow. Thank you for your understanding and patience,” he added.

The video, which went viral earlier on Saturday, shows a surprised car spotter recording an exotic black Range Rover when the vehicle’s tinted window rolls down to reveal Pastor Adefarasin behind the wheel. In the footage, the cleric appears to be holding an object in his right hand that some viewers described as a pistol. The car spotter, seemingly startled, can be heard apologizing for filming the vehicle.

The incident sparked controversy online, with many Nigerians questioning the appropriateness of a religious leader allegedly threatening a civilian. However, Pastor Adefarasin’s statement appears aimed at dispelling any misunderstandings surrounding the encounter.
