By Bayero Ade

The police in Zamfara State have confirmed that the newly-formed Lakurawa terrorist group was responsible for the explosion that occurred on Tuesday, December 3, in the state.

According to the state’s Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Dalijan, the attack took place in the Dansadau district of Maru Local Government Area. A bomb, planted under a bridge along the Dansadau road, exploded when a vehicle passed over it, killing one person and injuring three others.

Dalijan explained, “Yes, there was an explosion along the Dansadau road this morning. The bomb, which was planted under a bridge, detonated when a motorist drove over it. One person was killed and three others sustained injuries.”

Preliminary investigations revealed that the explosion was carried out by remnants of the Lakurawa terrorist group, who are reportedly being pressured by the Nigerian military. The group is believed to be attempting to flee into the Birnin-Gwari forest, traveling through Zamfara.

“The terrorists are facing intense pressure from security forces to leave Nigeria,” Dalijan added.
