The Indian community in Nigeria on Saturday night gave a heartfelt welcome to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is currently visiting the country to strengthen bilateral ties between the two nations.
The visit marks a significant moment in fostering economic, cultural, and diplomatic collaboration.
Upon his arrival, Prime Minister Modi met with members of the Indian diaspora, including the Marathi community, who expressed their delight over the recent recognition of Marathi as a Classical Language.
Speaking about the moment on X (formerly Twitter), Modi shared, “In Nigeria, the Marathi community expressed joy at Marathi being conferred the status of a Classical Language. It is truly commendable how they remain connected to their culture and roots.”
In another post, he remarked, “Heartwarming to see the Indian community in Nigeria extending such a warm and vibrant welcome!
Modi’s visit to Nigeria is also the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the country since 2007.
