Two individuals suspected of being members of a kidnapping gang have been captured by local hunters in Owo, the administrative hub of Owo Local Government Area in Ondo State.
In a video shared on Facebook by a user identified as Ogbeni OB Sugar showed the moment the suspects were restrained and interrogated by community members.
In the two-minute and forty-one-second clip, the suspects were questioned about their criminal operations, the structure of their group, and the identity of their leader.
The footage also displayed several items believed to have been seized from the suspects, including guns, cutlasses, cans of beer, and energy drinks.
One of the suspects was heard requesting water during the interrogation.
Speaking under the condition of anonymity, a local resident revealed that the suspects were arrested after hunters raided a hideout deep in the forest.
“Yesterday, the hunters stormed the bush where the kidnappers were hiding. Some managed to escape, but two were apprehended and brought back to the community,” the source disclosed.
When contacted, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed that the command is aware of the incident and has launched an investigation.
“I’ve seen the video, and the command has begun investigating the matter,” he stated.
