Fire guts popular hotel in Abuja

A popular hotel in the Garki Area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja was on Wednesday gutted by fire.

The incident was confirmed by a staff member of the hotel who spoke anonymously to PREMIUM TIMES.

According to the source, the fire started at about 3 am, and destroyed properties worth billions of naira.

The official said the hotel was alerted to the fire breakout when a guest ran down to the reception unclad to notify workers about the fire.

It was gathered that the fire, which started from a section of the three-storey building, extended to other parts of the complex, causing panic among guests and staff members.

As of the time of filing this report, fire service officials have arrived and are trying to put out the fire.

The cause of the fire is unclear, and no casualty has so far been reported.

Fire service officials and the police are yet to release an official statement on the incident.
