BREAKING: NAF Helicopter Crashes in Niger 

 

 

The MI-171 Helicopter belonging to the Nigerian Air Force encountered an unfortunate incident during a casualty evacuation operation on Monday, the 14th of August, 2023, approximately at 1:00 PM.

The helicopter crashed in close proximity to Chukuba Village in Niger State.

Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the Director of Public Relations and Information, released a statement revealing that the aircraft had taken off from Zungeru Primary School with its destination set for Kaduna.

However, it was subsequently revealed that the helicopter had crashed near Chukuba Village, situated within the Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.

At present, vigorous efforts are underway to rescue the individuals who were aboard the helicopter, including both the crew and passengers.

Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet also communicated that a preliminary investigation has been initiated to ascertain the likely cause behind this unfortunate crash.
