Bill To create Coastal State From Ondo Scales First Reading

By Our Correspondent

A legislative proposal aimed at creating a new Coastal State from Ondo State has advanced by passing its first reading in the Senate.

The initiative, driven by Senator Jimoh Ibrahim of Ondo South Senatorial District, seeks to amend the constitution to carve out a separate state for the riverine communities in the region.

Senator Ibrahim believes this move will accelerate development in the Southern Senatorial District of Ondo State.

The senator said he is optimistic that the proposal will secure approval in subsequent readings at the Senate.

He has strongly opposed suggestions that Ondo South could be integrated into the proposed Ijebu State, asserting that such a merger is not acceptable for his constituency.
