APC Secures Chairmanship Victories in Epe, Eredo, Ibeju-Lekki

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has been declared winner of the local government chairmanship elections held in Epe, Eredo, and Ibeju-Lekki areas of Lagos State.

The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) made the announcement late Saturday night at the secretariats of the respective local councils.

In Epe Local Government Area, the Returning Officer, Professor Habeeb Sanni, declared Ms. Surah Animashaun of the APC as the winner after she polled 34,819 votes. Her closest rivals, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party candidates, received 1,535 and 675 votes, respectively.

“Ms. Surah Animashaun, having fulfilled all necessary legal requirements and scored the highest valid votes, is hereby returned as the elected chairman of Epe LG,” Prof. Sanni announced.

In the Eredo Local Council Development Area, Dr. Afolabi Onasanya, who served as the Returning Officer, announced Mr. Monsuru Akinloye of the APC as the winner with 25,017 votes, while the PDP candidate trailed with 424 votes.

At the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government collation centre, Mr. Bankole Oduntan announced that the APC’s Sesan Olowa emerged victorious with 59,342 votes. The Labour Party and PDP received 45 and 740 votes, respectively.

Oduntan confirmed that Olowa met the required conditions and polled the highest number of valid votes, thereby declaring him the duly elected chairman of Ibeju-Lekki.
