23-Year-Old Lands in Police Net for Matcheting Girlfriend to Death

The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old man, Kingsley Chinamezu, popularly known as Power Sharp, for allegedly killing his 44-year-old girlfriend, Miss Confidence Sunny, in Etche Local Government Area of the state.

Police spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Wednesday. She said the suspect allegedly attacked Sunny with a machete on July 30 at Umuebule community, killing her on the spot.

“After committing the crime, the suspect fled Rivers State but continued threatening the victim’s family, boasting that he could harm them without consequence,” Iringe-Koko stated.

Following a petition from the deceased’s family, Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, directed the Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU) to investigate the case. Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the AKU tracked Chinamezu to his hideout in Egbeta village, Edo State, where he was arrested on August 15.

The police said the suspect is currently in custody, undergoing interrogation and profiling for possible links to other crimes, while evidence is being compiled for prosecution.
