Zulum Imposes Immediate Petrol Sale Ban in Bama

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno has ordered an immediate ban on the sale of petrol at filling stations across Bama Local Government Area, including Bama town and Banki.

This decision follows consultations with security agencies and is part of ongoing efforts to address security challenges in the area.

Malam Dauda Iliya, the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, confirmed the directive in a statement issued on Saturday in Maiduguri.

Zulum stated, “The sale of petrol in Bama town, Banki, and other parts of the local government area is prohibited with immediate effect.”

He issued a stern warning, emphasizing that anyone who disobeys the order will face severe legal consequences. “There will be no exceptions in enforcing this ban. Security agencies have been given clear instructions to take strict action against any filling station or individual defying this order. Those found guilty will be dealt with accordingly,” Zulum said.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to bringing lasting peace to the state and called on residents to support the ongoing efforts against insurgency. Governor Zulum’s government has consistently implemented measures to cut off supplies to insurgents and limit their mobility in conflict-affected areas.
