Why White Collar Jobs Can’t Make You Rich – NYSC DG To Corps Members

Corps members in Benue State have been urged to take skill acquisition seriously as a way to secure their future.

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Director of Corps Welfare and Health Services, Omotade Ayodele, gave this advice during his visit to the orientation camp in Wannune, Tarka Local Government Area.

He told the corps members that depending on office jobs alone may not guarantee financial success.

Instead, he encouraged them to fully participate in the NYSC Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, which he described as a reliable way to achieve financial independence.

Ayodele also advised them to embrace camp activities, as the structured environment helps build discipline, patriotism, and self-development.

He warned against trying to influence their postings, emphasizing that each assignment has a purpose.

Regarding security, he urged corps members to be cautious, respect local cultures, and avoid activities that could put them at risk.

He reminded them to follow safety rules when traveling, including using official motor parks and avoiding late-night journeys.

During the visit, outstanding groups such as the Quarter Guards, Man ‘O’ War Special Squad, Camp Band, Red Cross Society, and Platoon Leaders were recognized with gifts.

He also contributed to the upcoming Platoon Carnival, ensuring participation from all ten platoons.

NYSC State Coordinator, Veronica Garba, reported that 1,925 corps members, including 1,022 females and 903 males, were registered for the service year.

She assured that they had settled into camp life and were actively engaged in all programs.
