WhatsApp Admin Killed for removing member

A dispute over a WhatsApp group in Pakistan has led to the fatal shooting of its administrator, authorities reported on Saturday.

The victim, Mushtaq Ahmed, was shot dead on Thursday evening in Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, a region known for its security challenges.

According to police reports, the suspect, identified as Ashfaq, has been charged with the killing. The altercation reportedly began after Mushtaq removed Ashfaq from the group. In an attempt to resolve their differences, they agreed to meet, but Ashfaq allegedly arrived armed and fatally shot Mushtaq, as detailed in a complaint filed by the victim’s brother.

Authorities believe the attack was motivated by anger over the removal from the chat group. The case highlights ongoing concerns in the region, where access to firearms, deep-rooted tribal traditions, and weak law enforcement often contribute to violent incidents.
