In a dramatic display of political fervour, the chant of ‘O.C General’ echoed through the streets of Irele, Ondo State, as supporters of Hon. Bidemi Joshua Obayangban, a House of Representatives aspirant, turned a recent visit by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa into an electrifying political rally.
The fervent supporters gathered en masse, wielding placards emblazoned with messages of solidarity for Governor Aiyedatiwa while simultaneously showcasing their backing for Obayangban, who is vying to succeed the current representative, Odimayo, in the Okitipupa/Irele Federal constituency.
Governor Aiyedatiwa’s tour of the 18 local governments of Ondo State was aimed at expressing gratitude for the people’s support and engaging with stakeholders on developmental initiatives, while also highlighting the achievements of his administration. However, the atmosphere in Irele took a spirited turn, as the crowd of enthusiastic youths, in their bid to demonstrate their political allegiance, inadvertently disrupted traffic and obstructed the Governor’s convoy.
The chant of ‘O.C General’ became a rallying cry, symbolising Obayangban’s aspirations, and has since ignited discussions across social media platforms, reflecting on the competitive dynamics ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Starnews NG reports that the contest to unseat Odimayo is heating up, with various political players keen on securing the All Progressives Congress, APC, ticket for the upcoming House of Representatives election in the Okitipupa/Irele Federal constituency.
