As Christmas and New Year celebrations approach, the Minister of Interior, Hon. Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, widely known as BTO, has once again demonstrated his unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people of Ondo State.
In a gesture inspired by the spirit of the season and humanitarian values, Tunji-Ojo extended support to all 203 wards across the state. Each ward received 20 bags of 50kg rice along with ₦500,000 in cash, providing families with the means to celebrate the festive period with dignity and joy.
The total distribution comprised 5,000 bags of rice and ₦150 million in cash. Additionally, 12 support groups working towards the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu received 600 bags of rice and ₦3 million in cash.
The remaining 340 bags of rice, along with ₦12.5 million in cash, were shared among political leaders and disadvantaged residents to ensure a joyous festive season for all.
Bode Obanla, a senior APC chieftain, praised Tunji-Ojo’s generosity, stating, “Tunji-Ojo is a true blessing to Ondo State. His recent initiative to distribute bags of rice and substantial sums of money across all 18 local governments has made a significant impact on our communities, especially during this festive season. The people of Ondo State are profoundly grateful for his generosity, which reflects his genuine concern for their well-being.
“It is no surprise that Tunji-Ojo is loved by the people; his kindness and unwavering support have fostered a sense of unity and hope among us. His selfless acts not only help families celebrate Christmas with joy but also inspire others to follow his example of compassion and community service. We are fortunate to have a leader like him.”
Efforts to reach Tunji-Ojo for comment were unsuccessful, as his phone was not reachable at the time of reporting. However, more than six leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), who spoke on the condition of anonymity, confirmed the distribution.
Similarly, an independent vox pop conducted by the Starnews Editor across the three senatorial districts of the state also verified the story.
