The Ministry of Interior has declared that, with effect from 1st December 2025, all official correspondence must be conducted electronically, signalling a major step in its digital transformation agenda.
The directive aligns with the Digitalisation Reform Pillar of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP 2025) and follows the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation’s order for all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to adopt electronic communication and records management.
Under the new policy, the Ministry will no longer accept physical letters, mails, or any form of manual submission.
All official documents, requests, and communications are required to be submitted through the Ministry’s approved digital platforms.
The designated channels for electronic correspondence include the Interior Correspondence Platform via email at interas.interior.gov.ng, as well as submissions through the Ministry of Interior’s official website, interior.gov.ng, accessible through the backend after registration.
According to a statement signed by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, Permanent Secretary, on behalf of the Minister of Interior, the transition is intended to enhance service delivery, improve transparency, and support the Federal Government’s drive towards a fully digitalised public service.
The Ministry has urged all MDAs, organisations, partners, and members of the public to comply fully with the directive to ensure smooth and efficient processing of all communications.
Dr. Ajani emphasised that failure to adhere to the electronic-only submission rule after the 1st December deadline will render manual submissions invalid, reinforcing the Ministry’s commitment to a paperless administration.
