The Lagos State Ministry of Transportation has announced that traffic on the Marine Bridge will be diverted for 21 days due to planned repair works.
The repairs, which will be handled by the federal ministry of works, will begin on Sunday, May 18 and continue until Sunday, June 8, 2025.
The commissioner for transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, explained that the work will be done in two parts to reduce the impact on road users.
The first phase of the repair will focus on the area from Lawani Oguntayo Road leading into Apapa and Costain.
The second phase will target the Ijora Badia and Lilypond Access Ramp route also leading to Apapa.
During this period, drivers will need to use different routes.
Those coming from Ijora Olopa and heading to Apapa will be directed to the Ijora Causeway access ramp near Omni Retail Company to continue their trip.
For the second phase, drivers coming from Costain and going to Apapa will use the lane that usually moves in the opposite direction.
Also, from June 2 to June 8, vehicles from Ijora Olopa going to Apapa will again be diverted through the Ijora Causeway ramp into the Lilypond Access Road.
The repair is expected to end on June 8, and the bridge will be open to normal traffic on Monday, June 9, 2025.
During the maintenance period, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) will be on ground to manage the flow of vehicles and guide drivers through the alternative routes.
