Top PDP Figures in Lagos Join APC

Three key members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State have officially left the party and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The move was made public on Monday during a press briefing at the Lagos4Lagos Movement secretariat in Ikeja.

Among those who switched parties are Safurat Abdulkareem, who was the PDP’s deputy governorship candidate during the 2015 general elections; Chief Ola Apena, a former Deputy State Chairman; and Hakeem Ambode, the party’s Publicity Secretary in Lagos.

Their decision comes just as earlier reports had suggested that some notable PDP members, including those who contested for seats in the Lagos House of Assembly in the 2023 elections, were preparing to leave the party.

The announcement confirmed those reports and has stirred political attention in the state.

Although reasons behind the move were not fully detailed during the event, their defection adds to the growing list of PDP members in Lagos shifting allegiance to the APC.
