Tony Elumelu Reacts Over Report of His Planned Appointment By Tinubu as CBN Governor 

 

 

Nigerian businessman, Tony Elumelu has denied Tinubu’s plans to make him Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN governor.

In a statement released on Saturday, Elumelu said that the news that he would be appointed CBN governor was “completely false and misleading.” He said that he had no discussions with Tinubu or anyone else about the position.

The news of Elumelu’s appointment had been circulating on social media for several days.

It was said that Tinubu, who is the former governor of Lagos State, had chosen Elumelu because of his experience in the private sector.

Elumelu is the founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation, which provides grants to African entrepreneurs. He is also the chairman of Heirs Holdings, a pan-African investment company.
