Tanker Explosion Claims Lives in Niger

A tanker explosion occurred on Saturday at Dikko Junction along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway in Gurara Local Government Area of Niger State.

The incident, which happened around 10 a.m., resulted in the deaths of several people and left many others injured.

The explosion reportedly took place when individuals gathered to collect the spilled content from the overturned tanker.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the exact number of casualties.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) commander in the area, Kumar Tsukwam, confirmed the incident, noting that investigations are ongoing, Leadership reports.

Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umar Bago, through his press secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, expressed concern over the frequent occurrence of such accidents in the state.
