South Africa Defeat Morocco to win 2023 WAFCON

Bayana bayana of South Africa on Saturday defeated Morocco to emerge winners of the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The South African female team defeated the host, 2-1 to lift the trophy.

This is the first time South Africa is lifting the continental trophy.

The first half produced minimal action though the South Africans had more shorts on target.

The second half however produced better action with Magaia got her first goal on the 63rd minute and her second in the 71st minute. Hosts Atlas Lionesses of Morocco however reduced the tally in the 80th minute of the match thanks to Rosella Ayane.

The hosts enjoyed massive support from home fans which unfortunately not enough to turn the table the winners. An additional nine minutes after 90 minutes still did not offer the Moroccans the needed respite and they watched the minutes slim down to seconds and finally fade away as Bayana Bayana emerge worthy champions.
