Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on the invitation of Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, for an official state visit aimed at deepening diplomatic and economic ties between both nations.
According to his spokesperson, Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima will participate in the launch of Ethiopia’s Green Legacy Programme — a major environmental initiative targeting the planting of 20 billion tree seedlings to fight deforestation and climate change.
During the visit, Shettima will also tour various industrial and agricultural facilities, including the Adama Industrial Zone, Mojo Poultry Farm, and the Bishoftu Pea Youth Farm. These visits are part of efforts to foster collaboration in agriculture, food security, and industrial development.
The Ethiopian Prime Minister is expected to host Shettima to a State Dinner, reinforcing long-standing Nigeria-Ethiopia relations which span military cooperation, regional peacekeeping, and economic partnership.
