The Nigerian Senate postponed its plenary session from the usual 11 a.m. start to 1 p.m.
The change came because the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and the Deputy Senate President, Senator Jibrin Barau, were scheduled to attend the opening ceremony of the First Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Parliament, which began at 10 a.m.
that same day.
The Senate clerk, Andrew Nwoba, informed senators about the time adjustment, explaining that this shift was necessary to allow the Senate leaders to participate in the regional event.
The delay was communicated in advance to ensure all members were aware, and an apology was made for any trouble this might cause.
The Senate resumed its legislative activities after the event, marking a slight change in the daily schedule due to these official commitments.
