Rivers Police Declare Two LG Officials Wanted Over Alleged Attempted Murder

The Rivers State Police Command has declared two senior officials of Ahoada East Local Government Area wanted for their alleged involvement in the violent assault on the council’s administrator, Hon. Goodluck Iheanachor.

Those declared wanted are the Chief Security Officer of Ahoada East LGA, Hector Ekakita, and the council’s Chief of Staff, Mr. Aloni Olodi.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the two officials are accused of leading an attack on Iheanachor’s office on June 20, 2025, during which they reportedly assaulted him, stole his personal and official belongings, and forced him to sign a resignation letter under duress.

The police said the duo, along with about 30 accomplices, stormed the council secretariat, inflicted bodily harm on the administrator, and carted away vital documents and mobile phones.

Iringe-Koko noted that the suspects had previously been invited for questioning but failed to honour the invitation, prompting the state Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, to declare them wanted.

“The Rivers State Police Command has declared the following individuals wanted for criminal conspiracy, stealing, assault occasioning harm, and attempted murder,” the statement read.

“Despite public and formal invitations to report at the State Headquarters, the suspects—Mr. Hector Ekakita and Mr. Aloni Olodi—have refused to comply. The Commissioner of Police advises them to turn themselves in immediately.”

The statement added that anyone found aiding or sheltering the wanted persons would be prosecuted accordingly.

SP Iringe-Koko urged members of the public with credible information about the suspects’ whereabouts to contact the State Police Headquarters on Moscow Road, Port Harcourt, or call the designated emergency lines.
