Paul Ibe, media aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has launched a scathing attack on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, accusing him of using a church service to make misleading political statements despite being implicated in controversial land allocations.
In a statement shared via Facebook on Sunday, Ibe criticized Wike for what he described as an inappropriate use of the church pulpit, alleging the minister arrived at the altar not for repentance but to push a personal political agenda.
He described Wike as someone with a history of excess and impunity, claiming the minister had turned the sacred altar into what he called a platform for “deception, arrogance, and vengeance.”
“What we witnessed today was not an act of worship but a troubling display of political drama,” Ibe wrote. “The FCT Minister, known for his excessive lifestyle, used the house of God to deliver falsehoods rather than seeking forgiveness.”
Ibe referenced investigative reports by Peoples Gazette that allegedly exposed Wike’s involvement in controversial land allocations in Abuja. According to him, the minister has been assigning choice parcels of land to his sons, painting a picture of public office being used for personal gain. He also alleged that Wike, once confronted with evidence, attempted to suppress the scandal by ordering the arrest of a Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) employee suspected of leaking documents.
Instead of addressing the claims, Ibe said, Wike used his appearance at the Anglican Church in Asokoro, Abuja, to take aim at political opponents. The minister reportedly dismissed a new coalition of opposition figures and their recent adoption of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 elections, branding their efforts as self-serving moves to unseat President Bola Tinubu.
