Former Rivers State Governor, Dr. Peter Odili, has applauded Governor Siminalayi Fubara for resisting what he described as Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike’s alleged attempts to control Rivers State as a private domain.

Speaking during a Christmas night of songs organized in honor of Governor Fubara and his family, Odili praised the governor’s courage in confronting the political challenges posed by Wike.

He described Fubara’s efforts as instrumental in maintaining stability and uplifting the morale of both civil servants and residents of the state.

“God is the ultimate liberator. The strength and encouragement from Rivers people have given me the resolve to continue standing firm for the state,” Odili stated.

Governor Fubara, in his remarks, reassured citizens of his administration’s commitment to progress and prosperity, emphasizing that every effort would be made to improve the state in the coming years.

“As we look forward to 2025, I’m determined to make every year better than the last,” Fubara pledged.

Other dignitaries also shared their thoughts during the event. Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Victor Oko-Jumbo, highlighted the challenges faced by the legislature during the political tensions, while Chief Judge Justice Simeon Amadi commended Fubara’s resilience and dedication to governance despite the difficulties.

The event served as a platform to celebrate unity and reaffirm the state’s commitment to collective progress.
