Rivers Director of Internal Revenue Kidnapped by gunmen

Gunmen have kidnapped a director at the Rivers State Board of Internal Revenue.

The victim, identified as Aribibia Fubara, is a senior staff of the Service.

On Saturday, at the Okrika Waterfront near the Marine Base in Port Harcourt, the state capital, the kidnappers numbering about six, stormed the area in a speedboat.

It was gathered that they fired gunshots into the air to scare people away before whisking away their target in what looked like a pre-planned kidnap operation.

As of the time of filing this report, it was not yet clear whether the family had been contacted by the kidnappers.

A spokesperson for the police in the state, Grace Iringe-Koko, said “The command is aware of the incident and the CP (Commissioner of Police, Tunji Disu) has directed tactical units in the command to ensure that the victim is released unhurt.

“A manhunt has been launched to arrest the perpetrators and bring them to book.”
