The Rivers State House of Assembly has requested the Department of State Services (DSS) to investigate the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Simeon Amadi, over an alleged case of age falsification.
During a plenary session on Thursday, the Assembly discussed documents presented by the House leader, Hon Major Jack. Following the presentation, the Deputy Speaker, Hon Dumle Maol, accused the Chief Judge of altering his age while in service.
Maol stated that the documents indicated a case of age falsification and urged the Assembly to take note of the matter.
After a debate, the lawmakers agreed to formally request the DSS to carry out an investigation and report back with their findings.
Speaker Martin Amaewhule also backed the call for an inquiry, noting that the documents suggested a possible case of misrepresentation.
He stated that the matter required proper investigation to determine the truth.
Following a voice vote, the House approved the decision to send a letter to the DSS, instructing them to look into the allegation and provide a report on their findings.
