Printer jailed two years for stealing laptop

A Magistrates’ Court in Jos has sentenced a 32-year-old printer, Odunayo Awe, to two years in prison for stealing a laptop from a bank.

Magistrate Shawomi Bokkos delivered the verdict on Wednesday after the accused pleaded guilty to the charge. The court, however, gave him the option of paying a fine of N150,000 instead of serving the full sentence.

Prosecutor Inspector Ibrahim Gokwat informed the court that the case was reported on February 3 at the “C” Division Police Station by the complainant, Sunday Yuhana.

According to Gokwat, the convict entered the bank office and took a laptop worth N520,000 before he was apprehended.
