The Nigeria Police Force has arrested two wanted criminals linked to human trafficking and armed robbery operations abroad.

One of the suspects, Felix Omoregie, also known as Eghosa Johnson Omoregie, was picked up in Benin City, Edo State. He had been declared wanted by Belgian authorities since 2021 after being convicted in absentia for running a human trafficking ring.

According to a police statement, Omoregie’s group smuggled Nigerian women, including underaged girls, to Italy and other parts of Europe for sex work. Victims were forced into voodoo oaths and fake debts ranging from €20,000 to €50,000 to trap them in the cycle.

The police said Omoregie worked with handlers in France and Belgium who controlled the victims and sent earnings back to him. Officers also found documents during his arrest, including a passport copy meant for a planned trip to Canada.

In a separate operation, the police, working with INTERPOL in Abuja, arrested Okwudili Ezeje in Nsukka, Enugu State. Ezeje is wanted in the United Arab Emirates for armed robbery, drug trafficking, cultism, and other crimes.

Investigators said he led multiple robberies in Dubai and Sharjah, including attacks on a store at Dubai Mall, Al Ansari Exchange in Jumeirah, and a Bureau de Change in Jebel Ali Village. He allegedly continued running the gang from Nigeria after fleeing the UAE.

Force spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi said the arrests were made possible through cooperation with the Office of the National Security Adviser and the Dubai Police. Both suspects will be charged in court soon.
