Police Arrest Four, Recover Pistol, Stolen Iron Rods in Gombe

The Gombe State Police Command says it has recorded significant breakthroughs in its fight against crime, with the arrest of four suspects and the recovery of a pistol as well as stolen iron rods in separate operations.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Buhari Abdullahi, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, noting that operatives, acting on credible intelligence, arrested three young men in possession of a pistol on September 19, 2025, at about 9:30 p.m.

The suspects, identified as 22-year-old Shamsudeen Haruna, 20-year-old Tahir Ismail Ahmad, and 18-year-old Muhammed Abdullahi — all residents of the Doma area behind Government Girls Secondary School, Gombe — were allegedly caught with the firearm.

“The suspects were found in possession of the pistol at the time of their arrest. The case is currently under investigation, and further developments will be made public in due course,” Abdullahi stated.

In a separate operation, a patrol team attached to Operation Hattara arrested four men for allegedly stealing 226 pieces of iron rods. The suspects were intercepted at about 1:00 a.m. on September 18, 2025, around the Three Arm Zone area along Bauchi Road in Gombe Local Government.

Those arrested include 47-year-old Sule Isah of Nayinawa Quarters, 40-year-old Mohammed Aliyu of Tumfure, 26-year-old Justine Yila of Nayinawa Quarters, and 26-year-old Sani Job of Barunde Quarters.

“Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime. The stolen items have been recovered, and investigations are ongoing to ensure their prosecution,” Abdullahi added.
