Gunmen Shoot APC Leader Dead in Front of Family in Benue

Yet-to-be-identified gunmen have shot dead a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Ejeh Udeh, in Otukpo, Benue State.

The tragic incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Monday, September 22, 2025. Eyewitnesses told PM News that the assailants, who rode into the area on a motorcycle around midnight, laid an ambush at Udeh’s residence, waiting for his return.

“The moment he stepped into his compound, the attackers surrounded him and opened fire at close range,” one source recounted.

Udeh was said to have been killed in the presence of his wife and children. Neighbours described hearing sporadic gunshots that shattered the silence of the night and triggered panic across the community.

By the time residents rushed to the scene, Udeh was found lying in a pool of blood. He was later confirmed dead, and his remains have been deposited at the Otukpo General Hospital morgue.

Efforts by Newsmen to obtain confirmation from the Benue State Police Command proved unsuccessful, as the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Anene Sewusese, neither answered calls to her phone nor responded to messages as of press time.

Meanwhile, the incident has thrown Udeh’s family and the Otukpo community into deep mourning and heightened fear of insecurity in the area.
