The Plateau State Police Command has dismantled a notorious armed robbery and kidnapping syndicate operating in Bassa Local Government Area of the state, recovering weapons and cash amounting to ₦1.9 million.
Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Adesina, who disclosed this while parading the suspects at the Command’s headquarters in Jos on Tuesday, said the arrests followed credible intelligence and swift police action.
According to Adesina, the Command had received a distress report on August 13, 2025, from three residents of Kishika in Binchin village — Abubakar Mohammadu, Nasiru Umar, and Haruna Mohammed — who alleged that they were attacked on July 27 while returning from Bukuru Cattle Market after selling three cows.
“The hoodlums, armed with a locally made gun, dispossessed the victims of cash totaling ₦1,918,000, proceeds from the cattle sales, along with their mobile phones, knives, and walking sticks,” the CP explained.
He named the arrested suspects as Jafaru Sale, Abdulsalam Adam, and Mamuda Musa, adding that they had confessed to a series of robberies in Bassa and Jengre communities.
In a related operation, Adesina said police operatives also made a breakthrough in Langtang South Local Government Area, where a locally fabricated rifle was recovered from the residence of a suspected kidnap kingpin.
“Although the suspect managed to escape during the raid, our operatives are on his trail and he will be apprehended soon,” he assured.
The Plateau Police Command reiterated its commitment to intensifying intelligence-driven operations and urged residents to continue providing timely information that could aid the fight against crime in the state.
