The Senatorial Candidate of the People Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo South, Otunba Nicholas Tofowomo, has reached out to the leadership of the African Democratic Party (ADC), under Irele Local Local Government in Ondo State, ahead of 2019 general election.

Tofowomo and members of his campaign organisation met with the leaders of the party on Saturday at Irele town, Ondo State, to seek support of the people in his preparation to win the 2019 Ondo South senatorial election.

Speaking on behalf of Tofowomo campaign organisation, the Director-General of the campaign, Hon. Banji Okunmo, said that the campaign team was not only in Irele Local Government to seek support for the realisation of the senatorial ambition of Tofowomo, but to also solicit support for Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the PDP for 2019 presidential election.

“Tofowomo is a grassroot politician; he understands the terrain of Ondo South, he has traveled across its length and breath and recognises all opportunities in each community that could be unlocked to develop Ondo South through quality legislative representation at the Senate,” Okunomo said.

Addressing the meeting, Tofowomo, who used the opportunity to unveil his agenda for the people of Ondo South, promised not to be a docile senator if supported and elected by the people in 2019.

“I will not be a docile senator. I belong to this digital generation and I am up to date. I am ready for any debate to prove my preparation and readiness for governance before you elect me as your senator.

“Be rest assured I will be accountable to my constituents. I will not deny knowledge of your pains and sufferings, most especially the blackouts created in our land by the BEDC which is one of my agenda under “STREP”, Tofowomo said.

He said he will not renege on any of his promises or fail to implement his agenda, tagged STREP, which means: Security, Transportation, Resources, Employment, and Power (Electricity) if he wins.

In their reaction, all the ward chairmen of ADC in Irele Local Government led by comrade Ogunmade Owoleye, said that ADC does not have any senatorial candidate in Ondo South, as such, he said they were ready and willing to work with Tofowomo to realise his senatorial ambition after appraising his capability and competence to take Ondo South out of its many challenges caused by poor leadership.

While giving the vote of thanks, Hon. Solomon Bitire, secretary of Tofowomo campaign organisation, however said that the consultation with ADC leaders in the remaining 5 Local Governments of Ondo South will continue.
