Member of the house of representatives in Abuja, representing Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency in Ondo State, Hon. Mike Adeniyi Omogbehin, has condemned in strong terms the invasion of the residence of the former presidential adviser on Niger Delta Affairs, Dr Kingsley Kemebradigha Kuku by the police.

In a statement made available to our editor through whatsapp, Omogbehin, described the invasion of the house of Kingsley kuku, former presidential aide to the then President Goodluck Jonathan by men of the police without a search warrant as barbaric and irresponsible act.

The statement read in part :

“I read with great amazement and total disbelief, the news of the invasion of the home of former presidential adviser on Niger Delta & chairman presidential amnesty committee to former President Jonathan’s administration, Dr Kingsley Kuku, in Arogbo, by men of the Nigerian Police without a search warrant, as worrisome – an affront to the spirit of fundamental human rights. ”

“It is now clear, without any shadow of doubt, that the so-called anti-corruption crusade is a hidden agenda to perpetuate President Buhari in office beyond 2019. The war is meant to silence the opposition and to cover-up the inefficiency and cluelessness of this administration”, Omogbehin said.

Omogbehin called on the international community to pay attention to the on-going barbaric and irresponsible act being perpetrated by security agencies under President Buhari.

The lawmaker also said that we are not in 1984 where the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria was suspended by the military government headed by Buhari.

According to Omogbehin: ” Nigeria must  at all times, follow the process of law and if we don’t, we will end up like Uganda under the autocratic administration of the late Idi Amin.”

The lawmaker advised the security agencies under Buhari not to be used or allowed themselves to be seen as being used as political weapon against the people of Nigeria.

It will be recalled that about 20 armed police officers stormed Arogbo community, and forcefully broke into the house of the ex-presidential aide, Kuku, searching all the rooms and premises of Kuku without a search warrant.
