Ondo Police Smash Motorcycle Theft Syndicate, Recover 7 Stolen Bikes

The Ondo State Police Command has dismantled a notorious motorcycle-snatching syndicate and recovered seven stolen motorcycles in a major breakthrough against criminal activities in the state.

According to the Command, the operation followed a report by one Boluwaji Samuel of Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State, who disclosed that his NEO NX Blue TUS Lady’s motorcycle, valued at ₦500,000, was stolen from his residence on August 20, 2025.

Acting on intelligence, police operatives traced the stolen motorcycle to suspects identified as Oluwafemi Benjamin and Seyi in Akure. Further investigation led officers to another gang member in Owo, where six additional motorcycles — believed to have been stolen from various locations within and outside Ondo State — were recovered.

The Police described the syndicate as a long-standing menace, responsible for terrorizing residents and dispossessing them of their motorcycles and valuables. Victims have been urged to visit the Command with proof of ownership for possible identification and retrieval of their motorcycles.

Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, lauded the operatives for the successful operation and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining its crime-fighting momentum.

“This remarkable feat is a product of the renewed policing strategies championed by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM. Our goal remains to restore public confidence and make Ondo State unsafe for criminals,” Lawal stated.

He appealed to residents to continue providing timely and credible information that will assist the police in their efforts to maintain law and order.
