Ondo NANS JCC Clears Air on Election of Vice Chairman

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Joint Campus Council (JCC), Ondo State axis, has dismissed claims of irregularities surrounding the election of its Vice Chairman, Comrade Abiodun Victor Ayomide, insisting that the process was transparent, legitimate, and in full compliance with the NANS Constitution.

In a statement issued by its leadership, the student body described allegations of a “kangaroo election” as baseless and an attempt to undermine its integrity.

“The election of Comrade Abiodun Victor Ayomide was conducted in strict adherence to constitutional provisions. Suggestions to the contrary are misleading and unfounded,” the statement read.

The council clarified that Ayomide had resigned his previous position as President of the Students’ Union Government at the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo, before assuming his new role. A written letter of relinquishment was also tendered as proof.

On concerns raised about representation from the Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba Students’ Union (AAUASU), the council explained that the incumbent President, Akeem Salami Ologbon, had authorized his predecessor, Oyindamola Samuel Boladale (Mandela), to represent him, noting that such an arrangement was valid under NANS constitutional provisions.

Reacting to the purported suspension of Ayomide and the NANS JCC executive council by a group referred to as the “Council of SUG Presidents,” the statement declared the action “null and void,” stressing that the body had no recognition or constitutional authority to suspend elected officers.

“Unless through proper impeachment proceedings guided by due process, the office of the Chairman and other executives remain substantive and valid in the eyes of the law,” the statement added.

Reaffirming its commitment to student welfare, the NANS JCC leadership urged stakeholders to avoid distractions and work together in the interest of Nigerian students in Ondo State.

“The Redefined and Unified Era of NANS JCC Ondo State Axis remains resolute, progressive, and deeply anchored on constitutionalism, fairness, and the collective interest of students,” the council concluded.
