Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has vehemently denied receiving any notice of gross misconduct from the Ondo State House of Assembly.
In a statement released on Monday and personally signed by Aiyedatiwa, he refuted the claims made by Honorable Olatunji Oshati, the Chairman of the House Committee on Information, during a televised interview.
During the interview, which took place on Thursday, September 21, 2023, Oshati asserted that Aiyedatiwa had been served with a notice of allegations of gross misconduct by the Ondo State House of Assembly.
This announcement followed reports that the House had decided, on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, to send a “letter of allegations of gross misconduct” in response to a purported petition from some House members. Oshati further asserted that Aiyedatiwa was given seven days to respond to these allegations.
As of Monday, September 25, 2023, Aiyedatiwa said he has not received any official communication or “letter of allegations of gross misconduct” from the Ondo State House of Assembly.
He expressed concern that the House’s spokesperson would discuss this matter on national television without providing evidence of the letter’s delivery.
Additionally, Aiyedatiwa emphasized that constitutional matters like impeachment processes should not be conducted through the media.
Aiyedatiwa reiterated that if any such “letter of allegations of gross misconduct” against him does exist, he has not seen it, nor has he been served with it. He called upon Mr. Speaker, the Honourable Chief Judge of Ondo State, and the public to take note of this situation.
