Ondo 2020: Okitipupa produces Eddy Olafeso as sole governorship aspirant

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant and the National Vice Chairman, Southwest of the PDP, Chief Eddy Olafeso, on Thursday, emerged the sole governorship aspirant produced by Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Olafeso emerged through a shadow primary election conducted by the four governorship aspirants in the local government in a bid to reduce the multitude of aspirants from the southern part of Ondo State in preparation for the PDP primary election ahead of the October 10 governorship election in the State.

In a resolution signed by Dr. Eddy Olafeso,
Sen. Boluwaji Kunlere, Otunba Bamidele Akingboye, Engr. Ogunwa Omoniyi Oboli and
Barr. Bimpe Olatemiju, the four PDP governorship aspirants from Okitipupa Local Government, said they would appeal to their supporters to see the decision as sacrifice to create a better life for the people.

The full resolution reads:

RESOLUTION OF PDP OKITIPUPA LOCAL GOVERNMENT GOVERNORSHIP ASPIRANTS MEETING HELD TODAY 30TH APRIL, 2020 AT ODE AYE.

  1. The meeting was reconvened as a follow-up to the initial meeting held on March 26th, 2020 at Ode Aye.
  2. As part of the resolution, the aspirants agreed that their ambition is based on the following three keys: I) Rehabilitation II) Reconciliation and III) Restoration of hope of the masses.
  3. Based on the above, we resolved to conduct a gentleman shadow election amongst ourselves. At the end of the historic exercise, Olorogun Eddy Olafeso emerged to represent the other aspirants to contest the primary election.
  4. The aspirants have agreed to appeal to their supporters to see the decision as sacrifice to create better life for our people.
  5. We further appeal to our teeming supporters to comply with government directives as regards COVID-19 preventative measures.
  6. We thank all the well meaning Nigerians and organisations as well as religious leaders for the generous donations towards making life meaningful to our people in Ondo State during this period.
