Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant and the National Vice Chairman, Southwest of the PDP, Chief Eddy Olafeso, did not emerge the sole governorship aspirant of Ondo South Senatorial District in Ondo State, a chieftain of the party in Olafeso’s local government, Hon. Solomon Bitire has clarified on Thursday.

According to Bitire: “it was wrong and misleading for any online newspaper or blog, to mischievously report the endorsement of Eddy Olafeso by his fellow governorship aspirants within Okitipupa local government as endorsement by Ondo South Senatorial District.”

“We have six local governments in Ondo South: Ilaje, Okitipupa, Irele, Odigbo, Ileoluji/Okeigbo and Ese Odo Local Governments respectively. Out of these six local governments, only Ilaje and Okitipupa local governments have governorship aspirants. The other four local governments do not have any governorship aspirant.”

“For example, Ilaje local government has five governorship aspirants, while Okitipupa local government has four governorship aspirants. The four aspirants in Okitipupa, Chief Eddy Olafeso’s Local Government, with Olafeso’s inclusive, decided to come together and resolved within themselves to pick Olafeso’s as their sole aspirant for themselves and not for the local government, or for Ondo South Senatorial District.

“Even the resolution signed by the four governorship aspirants in my local government, Okitipupa, was dismissed of ambiguity, there was no place it was stated that Eddy Olafeso emerged as the sole governorship aspirant for Ondo South.”

“Let it be noted that it was only the four governorship aspirants in Okitipupa Local Government that came together under one umbrella and decided to step down for my brother, Chief Eddy Olafeso.”

“The leaders of our party in Okitipupa local government did not hold any meeting to Endorse Eddy Olafeso as aspirant for the local government. It was the four governorship aspirants in Okitipupa local government that met and resolved for Eddy Olafeso.”

“It is misleading, mischievous, and a political deceit for any news platform to distort or portray the content of the resolution by the four governorship aspirants as endorsement by the leaders of Ondo South Senatorial District,”

“While commending the PDP governorship aspirants in Okitipupa Local Government for coming together to produce one person, I want to use this medium to call on the leadership of PDP in Ilaje Local Government to come out with one governorship aspirant and reduce the stress of the party in attempting to prune down the multitude of aspirants in the district”, Bitire, a former chairman of the PDP in Okitipupa Local Government told Starnews NG on phone.
