Ogungbenro emerges Oyo PDP Chairman, Makinde comments on 2023

Dayo Ogungbenro was on Saturday elected the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman in Oyo State.

Wasiu Adeleke was returned as State Secretary at the congress that took place at the Open Court, Lekan Salami Sports Complex in Adamasingba, Ibadan.

Governor Seyi Makinde declared that with the way the PDP united for the congress, it had the capacity to unite Nigeria.

He said if given the opportunity to govern in 2023, the PDP will end the divisive tendencies in the country and place it on the path of unity.

Makinde urged all members of the party to rally round the new state executives to reposition the party.

The governor described the event as historic because it was the first time that an election was held carnival-like.

“I am sensing the same thing for our National Convention. They should watch out, PDP will unite Nigeria.

“Today, we don’t have much to say. The only thing I will say is that those who said they are aggrieved can see what has happened here.

“PDP belongs to all of us. They must come back and get integrated into the fold and we will accommodate them”, Makinde said.
